"Out of all the other house patrons, your patron is still living!" Archbishop Faulkner spoke of how humbled he was to have a house named after him, and told the students that he would suppor t them and be with them as they continued to build a community where "all were held together in the palm of God's Hand". Students, staf f, family members and the wider parish community who were present at the Mass listened to Archbishop Faulkner as he recounted stories of his youth, his early years as a priest, and his encounter with Joseph Cardijn, including his involvement in the Cardijn movements. The centenar y of the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour will be celebrated in St Francis Xavier's Cathedral on Saturday June 26, after the 11am Mass. The Cathedral's painting of 1910 by Giovanni Burkhardt is a representation of the original icon, which is now in the church of Saint Alphonso in Rome. The painting was a gift from the Redemptorist Superior General and is par t of the Cathedral's Marian shrine, which includes the Lady Altar and the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The shrine was completed in 1954. Margaret Edwards from the Friends of the Cathedral said icons were revered works of ar t and a prayer ful painting by the ar tist as well as an encounter in faith for those who come to pray before them. The centenar y celebration will involve praying the Rosar y and learning about the sacred ar t of iconography in the Byzantine tradition. Adelaide Catholic schools, families and businesses can become an angel for a day by helping provide breakfast and lunch for 200 homeless people in 24 hours. The annual "Angel for a Day" fundraiser has been launched by the Hutt Street Centre, in Adelaide. The centre ser ves more than 65,000 meals each year to Adelaide's homeless and vulnerable. People are being asked to donate $350 -- enough money to help feed breakfast and lunch for one day. The name of each Angel for a day is posted up on a large calendar in the centre's main dining area. In the past, schools groups have initiated their own fundraising project to raise the $350 for Hutt Street. Some schools have invited speakers from the centre to talk to their class about homelessness, or have visited the centre. ̌ Anyone interested in becoming an Angel for a Day can phone Hutt Street Centre on 8418 2500 or email zorica@huttstcentre.org.au Icon centenary Put on your halo
