Melania used to enter the fun run with her sister Shevahn Pivato and so staff decided to join in to support Shevahn as she ran without Melania for the first time this year. An Open Girls team Black Betty competed for the first time and won its class with five laps to spare. Mount Carmel College's tradition for developing outstanding vehicles continued with Black Betty awarded the "Best presented team and vehicle award". WALK TALL: Children at St Margaret Mary's School at Croydon Park showed their commitment to those less fortunate in the recent Hutt Street Centre Walk a Mile in My Shoes event, raising $1650. Students walked to a nearby reserve where a circuit was set up with rest points for presentations by student leaders on what Mary MacKillop did for the homeless in Adelaide and what the Hutt Street Centre continues to do today. Many students chose to carry a backpack, their favourite toy, or wear boots as a symbol of the plight of the homeless. Channel 10 weather presenter Jane Reilly visited the school last month to present a certificate for raising the highest amount of any school for the event. Amongst the "walkers" were Jaena Ho and Emmy Le.
