The "classic" stained glass windows were designed by a local artist, who is also a parishioner, and were manufactured and installed by Brenton Worrall, Debra Wrightson and Eileen Newberry of Adelaide Leadlight. The windows will complement the first set of windows, of "modern" design, installed in the opposite alcove in the Holy Redeemer Church in October last year. The design is based on the passion story and features the three crosses from the crucifixion. There is also a world globe demonstrating that Christ died to save all people from sin. The unity among Christian churches in South Australia was evident as leaders of six denominations led the 25th annual Probus thanksgiving service at St Ignatius Catholic Church, Norwood, recently. Archbishop Philip Wilson, departing later that day for Rome, gave the homily and spoke of the imminent canonisation of Mary Mackillop, a worshipper at St Ignatius in the 19th Century. The principal guest was the Lieutenant Governor, Chair of the S.A. Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission, Hieu Van Le AO. He and the Venerable Brian Jeffries, Anglican Archdeacon of Eyre in remote and rural South Australia, gave the two Bible readings. Prayers were led by the Reverend Robert Williams, Moderator Elect of the Uniting Church, and Major Gordon Jones of the Salvation Army, supported by the Reverend David Paech, Emeritus President of the Lutheran Church SA/NT, Dr Viv Crouch, President of the Baptist Union of SA, and Father Paul Mullins, parish priest of St Ignatius. A central feature was the music of the service which included Mozart's Laudate Dominum by Elizabeth Riley, the Responsorial Psalm was beautifully led by Cantor Adrienne Cullity and organ music by Joshua Valstar. One of the musical highlights was the playing throughout the Service of the Mt. Barker Caledonian Society Pipes and Drums under Pipe Major Caitlin Fry; they concluded the Service during the final procession with the stirring Highland Cathedral. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the service, the first of which was presented in 1986 by the Adelaide Central Club. Over the past five years it has been organised by a group of members of the Burnside Men's Probus Club and is a celebration of the relevance of Probus to its members and to others in their daily lives.
