Fr Taylor will also give two public presentations for parish staff and parishioners. Jenny O'Brien, from the Office for Worship, said the visit was timely because by now all parishes in the Adelaide Archdiocese were using at least part of the new translation of the Roman Missal. "Very soon the new Missal will arrive and by early November we will be praying the new translation entirely," she said. "For some the transition has been simple, and they have wondered what all the fuss was about. For others, the new translation has raised questions and caused anxiety. "No matter what our feelings about the new translation may be, the fact is that these are the words that we will be using, and although no translation is perfect, we need to trust the liturgy and let it touch our hearts and minds as we give praise to God who has redeemed us in Christ." Mrs O'Brien said Fr Paul was not only a great liturgical scholar and a parish priest, but he is also secretary to the bishops and scholars who worked on the revised translation. Public presentations by Fr Taylor will be held at Adelaide College of Divinity, Brooklyn Pk on Nov. 8, 4.30-6.30pm (geared primarily for teachers and those working with young people); Nov. 9, 10am- noon (for parish personnel and parishioners). To book for either of these sessions contact Trish on 8416 8477. Liturgy expert in town COUNTRY COUSINS: Mallee/Border parishioners welcomed a contingent of eight Goodwood parishioners to the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Church of the Irish Martyrs at Lameroo on August 28. Mass, led by Archbishop Philip Wilson and past Mallee Border Parish Priests Father Peter Sheedy, Father Tony Papps and Father Peter Fountain, was followed by a buffet luncheon at the Lameroo Community Hotel. 2011 also marks the 15th anniversary of the city/country twinning experience between the Mallee/Border and Goodwood parishes. The connection has provided a source of comfort and encouragement to the people of Mallee Border, during a time when numbers have dwindled, the parish priest has been relocated and parishioners have adjusted to conducting liturgy services and taking more responsibility for parish practicalities.
