Page 9 Commissioned: Archbishop Wilson commissioned 15 school chaplains who have been recently appointed or reappointed in Catholic schools under the Federal Government’s National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program during Mass at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on May 20. The Mass was an occasion to acknowledge and celebrate all those who have the role of chaplain in our Catholic schools for contributing to the wellbeing and spirituality of the students, staff and families in Catholic schools. More than 20 chaplains are employed in Catholic schools in SA with the support of funding from this program. Gifts of Holy Spirit As the end of the financial year rapidly approaches, Catholic Charities is running its annual June appeal to support its many and varied community works. Archbishop Philip Wilson said Catholic Charities had a proud history of “people who see a need and do something about it, as St Mary of the Cross MacKillop modeled to us all”. “As in her time, those good works require financial support from those who cannot share time, but can assist the work through their financial contribution,” he said. Archbishop Wilson said over the next 12 months Catholic Charities would be working closely with schools and community groups to identify new ways for people to support the charitable works of the Archdiocese.
